Confirmation

What is Confirmation?

1983 Code of Canon Law

CAN. 879 The Sacrament of confirmation strengthens the baptized and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses of Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. It imprints a character, enriches by the gift of the Holy Spirit the baptized continuing on the path of Christian initiation, and binds them more perfectly to the Church.

Catechism of the Council of Trent

Confirmation is Distinct from Baptism

As there should be a new and distinct kind of Sacrament when the soul has to encounter any new difficulty, it may easily be perceived that as we require the grace of Baptism to form the mind unto faith, so is it also of the utmost advantage that the souls of the faithful be strengthened by a different grace, to the end that they be deterred by no danger, or fear of pains, tortures or death, from the confession of the true faith.

Registration will open on May 13, 2024

Students who are in 10th-12th grade and in need of their Confirmation are invited to register for our Confirmation Class.

Registration will close on August 7, 2024

Cost is $100 per student

Students who have already received Confirmation are also invited to join us as Peer Ministers. For more information click here (link to Peer Ministry page)

Sacrament Preparation

We are in the process of updating and revamping our Confirmation program. For the 2024-2025 school year we will have a 1 year program consisting of students who began Confirmation classes last year, as well as students who are in at least 10th grade and in need of their Sacrament*.

*If your high school student also needs Baptism and/or First Holy Communion, please look at our

Youth RCIA page.

Parish Involvement

The Sacrament of Confirmation is about receiving the full gifts of the Holy Spirit and USING them! We require all students to be involved in Parish life in order to receive their Sacraments.

Some examples of what this may look like include, but are not limited to:

  • regular participation in one of the Ministries of the Parish such as being an Altar Server or helping with St. Vincent de Paul
  • regular attendance of Into the Deep and/or the Well
  • participating in volunteer opportunities at our Parish regularly throughout the year, etc.

Students entering the Confirmation program will have an interview prior to beginning their classes to discuss their preparation and anticipated involvement.
