Children and Youth

Our Mission

The mission of the St. Jude Youth Organization is to affirm young people in their identity as daughters and sons of God and to guide them to recognize that they are the Church today. By encouraging personal relationships with Christ, fostering authentic community, promoting the natural desires for truth beauty and goodness, prioritizing the Sacraments in everyday life, and building our youth up to understand and live out the teachings of our Catholic Faith, the St. Jude Youth Organization strives to bring Christ into the world for, and through, our youth today.

Our Game Plan

 Encouraging personal relationships with Christ

Prayer is simply talking to God. Through our formation classes and events, diocesan gatherings, and more – students will be exposed to a variety of ways to pray so as to form and nourish a relationship with Christ. Fostering authentic community

We were created to live in communion with God and communion with others. Through classes, youth events, conferences, retreats, and more – the SJYO will provide opportunities for students to bond and form good, authentic relationships with one another.

Promoting the natural desires for truth, beauty, and goodness

God is truth, beauty, and goodness Himself, so naturally that is what we desire. Students will have opportunities to encounter Christ in nature, art, music, and the world around them and learn how the desires of our hearts are ultimately only fulfilled through God and His plan for our lives.

Prioritizing the Sacraments in everyday life

The Sacraments are incredible gifts to us from God meant to strengthen and enrich our lives. Through Sacrament preparation classes, students will receive their First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation during their time in the SJYO Faith Formation program. Students will also be encouraged to participate actively in Mass, to regularly receive the vital graces given in Confession, and to spend time with our Lord and Savior in Adoration.

Building our students up to understand and live out the teachings of our Catholic Faith

Our Catholic Faith gives us a roadmap through our life. Through Faith Formation classes and additional events, students will learn about the fundamental teachings of the Church and be given the space to discuss how to live this out in their day to day lives. Students will have the freedom to talk about the joys as well as the challenges of being Christians in the world today.
