Quilting & Prayer Shawl

The St. Jude Quilters meet every Monday from 9:00-Noon and the Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every other Thursday from 1:00-3:00PM.

If you have ‘left over’ yarn or whole skeins of yarn (must be acrylic NOT wool) and would like to donate, to the prayer shawl ministry, please drop off at the office for pick up. (One shawl takes 4 skeins of yarn.)

The Quilts and Prayer shawls are made with material, yarn and prayers to bring God’s comfort to people who are suffering in body, mind and spirit. To join either ministry or if you would like to receive a quilt or prayer shawl for yourself or know someone who would benefit from one, please email Kristine Schulz; kschulz147@gmail.com

St. Vincent de Paul | San Vicente de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul greatly appreciates your support.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul greatly appreciates the support of St Jude Parishioners. Through your generous donations of food and monetary contributions we have been able to help our neighbors in need within the Mansfield community and our St. Jude parish. From October 2023 through September 2024, the SVdP’s Financial Assistance program has served 199 families (616 individuals) in need of assistance with their rent, utilities, etc. The St Jude Food Pantry was able to provide food supplies for 3,598 families (15,376 individuals). In November, 70 families also received food boxes to prepare their Thanksgiving dinners. During the school year, in conjunction with Common Ground’s Backpack Program we provided weekend meals for 40 designated MISD students. During their summer Feed the Kids program, we provided 512 bags of food (each with 7-8 meals/week) to MISD students.

An Invitation to Serve: We extend an invitation to you to serve our neighbors in need. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact stjudesvdp500@yahoo.com.

Our Mission:

“A network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.”

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was founded by six college students and an older mentor in 1833. From those humble beginnings, it has grown to become a network of charity encircling the world.

Today, more than 800,000 members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are serving those in need in their own communities in 152 countries.

Who We Are:

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men (Vincentians) to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility, and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gathering, and adherence to a basic Rule. Vincentians seek personal holiness through works of charity.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Need:

We thank the parishioners of St. Jude for their continued support. With your financial assistance and prayers, we are able to serve our neighbors in financial distress with rent, utilities, and food. Your direct contributions and those through the special collections are greatly appreciated!

What We Do:

Financial Assistance - Home Visits foster hope by providing spiritual, emotional, and material assistance on a person-to-person basis to those living within the City of Mansfield (zip code 76063) and those who are registered St. Jude parishioners. Volunteers are needed to conduct home visits. Teams are composed of two people, just as the apostles did, and each team is provided orientation and training before conducting a home visit. Vincentians help people in need and empower people to find ways to solve their own problems. Helpline: 817.595.6511

St. Jude Food Pantry is open from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The pantry provides food to those in need residing in the Tarrant Area Food Bank service area. Volunteers are needed to distribute food to families during the pantry’s hours of operation. Volunteer pickup truck drivers are always needed to procure food from Tarrant Area Food Bank in Fort Worth and from local grocery stores on Monday and Friday mornings.

“Feed the Kids” is a program in conjunction with Common Ground. In its Backpack Program we distribute bags of food to MISD schools that have identified children who may not be receiving meals over the weekend during the school year. Each week, we pick up these bags on Wednesday evenings and deliver them to assigned schools on Thursday mornings. Its Summer Program also supports MISD students in our community. We pick up these bags on Wednesday evenings and distribute them to designated families at our food pantry. It also provides free books for kids to maintain their reading levels during the summer months. Volunteers are needed for both programs.

An Invitation to Serve:

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is easy to join. There are no special qualifications other than the desire to join others to help those in need for the love of God.

Christians have an obligation to serve others. This service can be done as an individual but is often better accomplished by being a member of a society which provides a wide range of opportunities.
